Rev. Dr. Jonathan Butler brings his Christian faith and foundation combined with his demonstrated leadership and scholarship to the pastorate of Jerusalem Baptist Church. Prior to his coming to Jerusalem Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Butler served for 8 years in a pastoral leadership position at the historic Third Baptist Church of San Francisco working with Dr. Amos. C. Brown. He was also the Executive Director of the Third Baptist Foundation. Rev. Dr. Butler is the Executive Director for the San Francisco African American Faith- Based Coalition for 21 churches. He is President of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) San Francisco. Originally from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, he is an alum of Howard University where he achieved his Ph. D. in Medical Sociology and Social Inequalities, and his Master of Divinity in Religion. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Southern University. Rev. Dr. Butler has a heart for service, compassion and genuine enthusiasm for people, and motivation for social justice. Jerusalem Baptist Church welcomes Rev. Butler and is excited for this new era of leadership.
